Desde 1974 a 1981, fue el presentador del teatro radial The CBS Radio Mystery Theater, el cual fue transmitido a través de la filial de CBS por las radios de Estados Unidos.

Cada episodio comenzaba con un sonido crujiente de puerta, que se abría lentamente, invitando al oyente a tener una aventura por la tarde. Al final de cada programa, la puerta se cerraba lentamente, con Marshall diciendo Hasta la próxima ocasión, felices... ¿sueños?.

Murió el 24 de agosto de 1998, debido a un cáncer de pulmón.

E. G. Marshall (* 18. Juni 1914 als Everett Eugene Grunz in Owatonna, Minnesota;[1] † 24. August 1998 in Bedford, New York) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler. Marshall arbeitete über sieben Jahrzehnte als Schauspieler und war dabei in allen darstellerischen Bereichen tätig, vom Theater über Film bis hin zu Fernsehen und Hörfunk. Eine seiner bekanntesten Rollen hatte er als Geschworener Nr. 4 im Gerichtsdrama Die zwölf Geschworenen.

Marshall (born Everett or Eugene Grunz; June 18, 1914 – August 24, 1998) was an American actor, best known for his television roles as the lawyer Lawrence Preston on The Defenders in the 1960s and as neurosurgeon David Craig on The Bold Ones: The New Doctors in the 1970s. One of the first group selected for the new Actors Studio, by 1948 he had performed in major plays on Broadway.
