Gavriel David Rosenfeld is Professor of History and Director of the Undergraduate Program in Judaic Studies at Fairfield University. A native of Bloomington, Indiana, he graduated from Bloomington High School South in 1985. He received his B.A. in History and Judaic Studies from Brown University in 1989. Following a year studying on a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich (1989–90), he received his Ph.D. in History from UCLA in 1996.

Since 2000, Rosenfeld has taught at Fairfield University, where he offers courses in modern European History. His area of research is the history and memory of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. He is a frequent contributor to The Forward and has also published essays and opinion pieces in The Washington Post, The Atlantic, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Hartford Courant. He is the editor of the blog, The Counterfactual History Review,[1] which features news, analysis, and commentary from the world of counterfactual and alternate history. He is also an editor of The Journal of Holocaust Research (formerly Dapim: Studies on the Holocaust).
