Early life
Ashplant was born and brought up in Guernsey,[1][2] attending La Mare de Carteret School.[3][4] Cameron went on to become a member of the National Youth Theatre before studying at Durham University,[5][6] where he graduated with a degree in Geography. Whilst at University Ashplant performed in comedies,[7][8] classics,[9][10] contemporary dramas,[11][12][13][14] new original writing.[15][16] and devised physical theatre.[17][18]
Career
Ashplant's first professional screen appearance involved presenting the Amazon Prime travel documentary series The Balkans (2020), in which Simon Reeve served as Executive Producer.[19][20]
In 2021 he wrote, produced and co-directed the award-winning short film A Silent Imprisonment. He starred as the films protagonist, Leo, opposite Mark Gatiss in the role of Mr. Murphy. The pair went on to jointly win the Best Actor award at the Uruvatti International Film Festival in India.[21]
In 2022 he appeared as the shopkeeper, Mr Nicholson, in Gentleman Jack Season 2.[22] Ashplant then appeared as Alex in the British psychological thriller film Marooned Awakening[23][24][25] alongside Murray McArthur, Tilly Keeper and Tim McInnerny.[26][27][28] Principal photography took place in September 2021 on his home island of Guernsey.[29][30] The feature film, which Ashplant co-wrote and produced, premiered on Guernsey on 3rd September 2022.[31][32]
Ashplant is set to star in the upcoming western historical drama film Last Flamingo of the Red Summer Sunset, which he also wrote, produced and co-directed. He will portray the protagonist Sgt. Benjamin. The film, which is due for release in 2023, also stars Billy Slaughter.
Ashplant has performed in professional stage plays, including Lord of the Flies at the Gala Theatre, Durham,[33] where he played Ralph.[34]
