Donald Dean Dorrell (October 6, 1928 – April 10, 1978) was an American film and television actor. He was known for playing the role of "Donovan" in the American western television series Pony Express.[2]

Born in Missouri. Dorrell began his career in 1959, joining the cast of the new syndicated western television series Pony Express playing the role of Brett Clark's troubleshooter "Donovan", in which he starred alongside actor Grant Sullivan who played the role of "Brett Clark".[2] He then played the role of "Jud Donovan" in the 1961 film The Gambler Wore a Gun.[3] Dorrell also played the role of "Roger" in the film Tammy Tell Me True.[3]

In 1962, Dorrell escaped safely from a plane crash for which the plane had sinked in Avalon, California.[4] He played the role of "Stoney Jackson" in the film When the Girls Take Over, with also playing the role of "Payne" in the 1964 film Ensign Pulver.[3] Dorrell also played the role of "Private Hoxie" in the 1965 film None but the Brave.[3] His only guest-starring appearance included the sitcom television series Hazel. He retired his career in 1965, last appearing in the film That Darn Cat!, where he played the role of "Spires".[3]

Dorrell died in April 1978 in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 49.[2]
