Hong Ji-hee (Korean: 홍지희; Born in Seoul July 27, 1988) is a South Korean movie, television and musical actress.[1][2] She's known for her role Yoo Cho-hee, in tvN drama series Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.[3]

After majoring in Department of Theater and Film of Kyunghee University, Hong debuted as musical actress in 5th season of open run musical Finding Kim Jong-wook (2011).[4] She was actually debut earlier in film Into the White Night (2009) as Cha Young-eun, followed by another role in film City of Damnation (2009) as reporter.[5]
Hong Ji-hee debuted as musical actress in 5th Season of open run musical Finding Kim Jong-wook. On the afternoon of June 7th, 2011, a brand day was held on the first floor of the Seoul Theater Center in Myeongnyun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. Season 5 launched on June 14th, will be held together with director Byun Jeong-joo, music director Kim Hye-seong. The Line up were Kim Jae-beom, Sang Sang-yoon, Rajun, Kim Ji-hyeon, Baek Eun-hye, Hong Ji-hee, Lim Ki-hong, Kim Min-gun, and Lee Ju-hoon.[6][7]
In November 2011, Director of musical Finding Kim Jong-wook, Kim Dong-yeon invited her to audition for second Kim Soo-ro's Project, Musical Coffee Prince 1st Store (2012), that was adapted from popular television drama with the same name. The musical adaptation was closer to source material, novel with the same name by Lee Seon-mi, with focus on Choi Han-gyeol and Go Eun-chan romance.
Hong passed the audition and got the role Go Eun-chan, double-cast with actress Yu Joo-hye. Choi Han-gyeol were performed alternately by Kim Jae-beom and Kim Tae-han. The musical premiered performance were staged at Filling Hall 1, Daehangno Cultural Space from February 24 to April 29, 2012.[8][9]
In the same year, Hong join the musical Three Thousands — The Flower of Destruction, a historical drama musical that re-imagined the fall of Baekje and its last king, King Uija and his 3000 court ladies. This work portrayed King Uija as a solitary and strong person who ruled Baekje, a prosperous nation. Hong Ji-hee took on the role of Yeon-hwa, a blind court lady. Written and directed by Seo Yoon-mi, the musical was performed from October 26, 2012 to January 20, 2013 at the Daehangno Cultural Space Filling Hall 1.[10][11]
In its 13th performance, Musical Laundry was moving to the Art One Theater with a new cast. Hong Ji-hee, with two actress Kwak Seon-young and Park Eun-mi, shared Son Na-young role, a temporary employee at Jeil Bookstore. Kim Kyung-soo and Kim Bo-gang were double cast as new Solongos, Mongolian immigrant. The musical started with a preview performance on March 13 to 14, and performance was held at Art One Theater 2 in Daehangno until September 29, 2013.[12]

Hong reprise the role of Son Na-young in the 10th anniversary performance of Musical Laundry in 2015.[14]
Three-person musical Abbocatto[lower-alpha 1] question of whether the memories of love would be bittersweet like wine in the abboccato stage. Hong Ji-hee and Kim Hye-yeon were double-cast as an aspiring writer Jeong Da-jeong. Lee Kyu-hyung was cast as singer-songwriter Yoo Jae-min, Da-jeong's boyfriend; and Lee Ki-seop was cast as multi-role. The cast acted in demonstration performance at Art One Theater 2 in Dongsung-dong, Seoul from February 7th to 15th. Demonstration performance could happen because this work was selected for the 2014 Creative Musical Development Support Project[lower-alpha 2] after overcoming a 100 to 1 competition. The work previously went through three showcases over three years. It was first introduced in 2011 through a reading performance by CJ Creative Mind.[lower-alpha 3] Followed by the SMF Yegreen Encore Showcases in 2012. After revising and supplementing the work, the musical re-staged at the Daemyung Cultural Factory (DCF) Hall 2 in Daehak-ro on March 13th to April 19, 2015. In addition to Lee Kyu-hyung, who played singer-songwriter Yoo Jae-min in a demonstration performance, Kim Chan-ho joined. Hong Ji-hee and Kim Hyo-yeon, as Jeong Da-jeong, also Lee Ki-seop as multi-man appeared as they did in the demonstration performance.[15] The musical was written by Lee Ho-jeon with songs composed by Lee Jin-wook. Directed by Kim Hyo-jin as director, the performance was produced by LSM Company.
In the same year, Hong joined cast of musical Mirror Princess Pyeonggang Story. Written by Choi Eun-i and Min Jun-ho of Ganda Theater Company, the story was based on folktale Princess Pyeonggang and On Dal.[4]
In the musical Four minutes, Hong conveyed her desperate feelings as Hannah, Kruger's same-sex lover, who has taught piano to female inmates for 60 years with the scars of World War II in her arms. Based on the 2006 German film 'Four minutes' directed by Chris Krauss.[4][16][17]
In 2018 Hong reunited with director Kim Dong-yeon in musical Vampire Arthur. Hong took on the stage as a hopeful and pure girl Emma who makes Arthur, a vampire, dream of a new world.[18][19]
Followed by Sideureus (2020) and Maybe Happy Ending (2021) as Claire.[20]
After 5 years as musical actress, Hong Ji-hee wanted to challenge herself with a theater play. Her theater debut was play Hot Summer (2015) by Ganda Theater Company. Hong shared the lead role Chae-kyung/Sa-rang with two musical actress, Song Sang-eun and Shin Ui-jeong; who was original cast from the premiere in 2014, at the 10th anniversary of Ganda Theater Company. Written and directed by Min Jun-ho, it was performed from August 11 to November 1, 2015 at Daehangno Freedom Theater.[21]
In 2016, Ganda Theater Company licensed play Almost, Maine by John Cariani was back after three years. Directed by Min Jun-ho, it was performed in from January 8 to April 10, 2016 at Sangmyung Art Hall 1, Daehangno?. Hong Ji-hee played three roles, as Glory, Waitress and Gayle. She was the youngest actress in the play.[22]
The play 'Round Trip Letter (Director Kim Myung-hwan)', is based on 'Fifteen Years of Supplementary Lessons' among three mystery novels of the same name by Japanese author Minato Kanae. From start to finish, it depicts an unpredictable development in the form of letters sent by the author and replies to them. The letters between Junichi and Mariko, who are middle school classmates and longtime lovers, lead the play. Junichi leaves for volunteer work to a remote island country in the South Pacific where electricity doesn't come on well, while Mariko sends and receives letters while waiting for him. The two face the truth of an incident fifteen years ago in the letters they exchange. Park Si-beom, Kang Jung-woo, Son Yoo-dong as Junichi, Lee Ji-hae and Hong Ji-hee as Mariko will appear on the stage. Son Seong-min, Byun Hyo-joon, Choi Seok-jin, and Park Hee-jeong will join the multi-player role that unlocks the clues to the truth hidden between two lovers.[23]
In late 2017, Playwright Min Jun-ho direct his own play The 100th Debate of the New Humanity. It was based on a 100% debate on a TV show. Hong Ji-hee and Yoo-yeon double-cast for role Hyun Chung-hee, a parasitologist who observes and studies poisons, parasites, and viruses. Hong showed a fierce performance just like real debate professional.[4]
In 2018, Hong challenge herself for another multi-roles. She was cast as Akiko, Emiko, and Midori of Miracles of the Namiya General Store, a play based on the novel of the same name by Keigo Higashino, Japanese master of mystery novels. The play was reborn based on a play written and directed by Yutaka Narui [ja]. In 2016, it was selected as one of the works of 'Performance, Meet - Accompany', a new content development support project for the 2nd anniversary of the opening of Daemyung Cultural Factory, and after the pre-reading performance, it was completed as a main performance after an additional development period.[24]
Hong actually debuted first as actress in film Into the White Night (2009) as Cha Young-eun, followed by another role in film City of Damnation (2009) as reporter in the bombing site. She was more focus on building her career on stage afterwards.
In 2018, Hong back to screen with movie Daughters Table. Directed by Son Hee-song, the movie depict the story about there daughters of Ms. Jo, Su-yeon, Ji-yeon and So-yeon who lives a busy lives. They back to their Hometown upon hearing the News that their Mother is dying.[25]
A decade after debut in big screen, Hong finally debut in small screen in KBS drama series Unasked Family (2019). Hong Ji-hee took on the role of Tran Ti-chang, a Vietnamese housekeeper. While selling food at a Vietnamese stall, she fell in love with the eldest son of a famous Korean restaurant. Hong Ji-hee is showing perfect acting skills by matching the setting of being a Vietnamese who learned Korean. Her viewers are praising her natural acting skills of her. Mana viewers even thin that She was really a Vietnamese.[26]
In the sama year Hong joined tvN drama series Arthdal Chronicles (2019) as Hae Ga-on.
In 2021, Hong's portrayal as Yoo Cho-hee, a teacher at Cheongjin Elementary School, in tvN drama series Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, was received well by viewers.[3]
In 2022, Hong participated in drama Big Mouth as Jang Hye-jin.[27]
In 2022 Hong Ji-hee, participated in premiere of the creative musical Let me fly with the role of Park Jeong-bun. Jeongbun is a 19-year-old girl who lives in the countryside and dreams of going to the moon. the creative musical Let me fly directed by Lee Dae-woong, with producers Hong Yun-kyung and Lee Young-chan, written and lyricist Jo Min-hyung, written and arranged by Min Chan-hong.[28]
