Karla-Simone Spence (born 19 July 1996)[1] is a British actress. She is best known for her role as Leah in the film Blue Story (2019). On television, she appeared in the BBC One miniseries Gold Digger (2019) and the BBC Three series Wannabe (2018). She is set to star in The Confessions of Frannie Langton.

Early life


Spence was born in London, England and grew up in South London. She is of Jamaican descent.[2] She is the older sister of English footballer Djed Spence.[3]


Career


In 2018, Spence played Amber in the BBC Three short-form series Wannabe and Anna in the film Nine Nights.[4] The following year, she starred as Cali Okello in the BBC One miniseries Gold Digger[5] and Leah in the Rapman film Blue Story,[6] the latter of which earned her nominations at the National Film Awards.

In August 2021, it was announced that Spence would star as the titular role of Frannie Langton in the upcoming period drama The Confessions of Frannie Langton, an ITV adaptation of the novel of the same name by Sara Collins.[7] Spence made her professional stage debut in the spring of 2022 in House of Ife at Bush Theatre.
