Mitsuko Miura (三浦光子, Miura Mitsuko, 17 January 1917 – 14 June 1969) was a Japanese actress active from 1938 to 1964. She appeared in over 150 films under the direction of filmmakers like Mikio Naruse, Kenji Mizoguchi and Hiroshi Shimizu.[3]

Biography


After graduating from Otsuma Girls' High School, Tokyo, Mitsuko Miura joined the Nichigeki dancing team before signing to the Shochiku film studio.[1] She gave her film debut in 1938 with Hotaru no hikari and appeared in films of Hiroshi Shimizu, Kenji Mizoguchi and Noboru Nakamura. After 1950, she worked for numerous different film companies, starring, among others, in a number of films of Mikio Naruse. She retired from film business in 1964 and died in 1969.[1]
