Priya Prakash Varrier (born 28 October 1999) is an Indian actress, model, and playback singer who works in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films. Her wink[3] in the film Oru Adaar Love went viral, making her the most searched-for personality through Google in India in 2018.[4][5][6][7]

Early life


Priya was born on 28 October 1999 to Prakash Varrier, a Central Excise Department employee, and Preetha, a homemaker at Punkunnam, Thrissur, in Kerala.[1] She attended school at Sandeepani Vidya Nikethan, Thrissur.[8][9] In 2018, she enrolled in a Bachelor of Commerce course at Vimala College, Thrissur.[8]


Career



Films


She played the role of Priya in the 2019 movie Oru Adaar Love, a romantic drama set in a school.[10] The official teaser on YouTube, which includes Priya winking, has received over 30 million views as of April 2022. Her wink was said to have gone viral.[11] The song "Manikya Malaraya Poovi" from Oru Adaar Love was deemed offensive by some Muslims, as the lyrics reference Khadijah, the wife of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. A first information report relating to this was filed against Priya and the film's creators, and subsequently rejected by the Supreme Court of India.[11][12]

In 2019, the song "Nee Mazhavillu Polen", which she sings with Naresh Iyer for the film Finals starring Rajisha Vijayan in the lead role, was released.[13] She was cast in the Hindi film Sridevi Bungalow, which was in production as of January 2020.[14]

She debuted in Telugu language in 2021 playing the second female lead in Check in which she played a honey trapper opposite Nithin and Rakul Preet Singh.[15]
