Raymond John Guth (May 29, 1924 – December 17, 2021) was an American film, stage and television actor.

Born on May 29, 1924,[1] in Oil City, Pennsylvania. Guth attended the Pasadena Playhouse. He also had another job working at a morgue in nights.[2]
Guth originally performed in stage plays. In 1954, he was honored by Theater Americana as best actor for his performance as Genesius in the play The Comedian.[3] He began his film debut in 1956, first appearing in the film The Flesh Merchant. Guth then made his television debut in 1957, first appearing in the anthology television series Alfred Hitchcock Presents.[2] In the same year, he was interviewed by filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock for a working job.[4]
In his television career, Guth made appearances on Wagon Train, The Virginian, Route 66, The High Chaparral, Daniel Boone, Tombstone Territory, Rawhide and Perry Mason.[5] He made four appearances in the western television series Gunsmoke. Guth then made thirteen appearances in Death Valley Days and at least eleven appearances in Bonanza. He only appeared once in The Rifleman, which starred Chuck Connors and Johnny Crawford. Guth also made one appearance in the science fiction television series Land of the Giants.[6] He made two appearances in the sitcom television series Hazel.[7] Guth then made his final appearances in the television programs The Rookies, Happy Days, The Dukes of Hazzard, Little House on the Prairie, Hart to Hart, Moonlighting and Highway to Heaven.[8]
Guth appeared in films, such as, The Bonnie Parker Story (1958), starring Dorothy Provine; The Young Captives (1959), starring Steven Marlo, Luana Patten and Tom Selden; Operation Bikini (1963), starring Tab Hunter, Frankie Avalon, Scott Brady and Jim Backus; The Hostage (1967), starring Don O'Kelly; The Reivers (1969), starring Steve McQueen; Bad Company (1972), starring Barry Brown and Jeff Bridges and Silver Streak (1976), starring Gene Wilder, Jill Clayburgh and Richard Pryor. His last film credit was from the 1982 film Some Kind of Hero, again with Richard Pryor.[9]
Guth died on December 17, 2021,[1] in La Verne, California, at the age of 97.[10]
