María Luisa Ramsey (21 de marzo de 1969, Manila), conocida artísticamente como Jaya. Es una cantante filipina, hija de la cantante y comediante Elizabeth Ramsey, de ascendencia afro-jamaiquino y española. Su carrera artística empezó a partir de 1989 donde ha batido un gran récord en el mercado estadounidense, donde se convirtió en el primer artista filipino en ingresar en el Billboard Hot 100 con la canción "If You Leave Me Now" logrando a alcanzar el número 44.[1] Además ha residido en Florida (EE. UU.) y la han asimilado con su compatriota, la cantante Pilita Corrales, sobre todo por el estilo de su voz y está considerada en su país como la quinta artista femenina más vendedora de todos los tiempos.[2]

María Luisa Ramsey-Gotidoc (born March 21, 1970), known professionally by the mononym Jaya (/ˈdʒaɪə/), is a Filipina soul singer, rapper, record producer, actress, dancer and presenter of mixed Jamaican and Visayan descent. She was a talent of GMA Network but later transferred to ABS-CBN, where she serves as one of the head jury of the Tawag ng Tanghalan segment of the Philippine noontime variety show It's Showtime and performer on ASAP. Jaya is the first Filipino recording artist to chart in the United States, as her debut single "If You Leave Me Now" peaked at 44 at the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[1]
