Candidato a un Premio BAFTA.[1] Ha intervenido en películas como Out of Africa (1985), Empire of the Sun (1987), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) o Venus (2006), además ha prestado su voz a dos entregas de Harry Potter; Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal (2001) y Harry Potter y la cámara secreta (2002) interpretando al Sombrero Seleccionador.[2]

Biografía
Leslie Phillips nació en Tottenham, Londres, Reino Unido el 20 de abril de 1924.[3]Es hijo de Frederick Samuel y Cecelia Margaret, cuyo apellido de soltera era Newlove. Se convirtió en un actor cómico muy querido, con sus interpretaciones sobre los estereotipos ingleses.[3] El corazón de Leslie Phillips estuvo siempre con la interpretación. Recibió lecciones de locución para eliminar el acento de su lugar de nacimiento ya que en aquel tiempo tener un acento de alguna de las regiones de Reino Unido era un gran impedimento para alguien que quería convertirse en actor, asistió a la Italia Conti School.[3] Durante la II Guerra Mundial sirvió en la infantería Ligera de Durham (1942-1945), hasta que fue declarado inválido para seguir prestando servicio. Volvió a actuar y durante la década de los 50 se convirtió en un respetado intérprete de la industria británica.[3]

Leslie Samuel Phillips CBE (born 20 April 1924) is an English retired actor, voice artist and author. He achieved prominence in the 1950s, often playing smooth, upper-class comic roles utilising his "Ding Dong" and "He-llo" catchphrases. He appeared in the Carry On and Doctor in the House film series as well as the long-running BBC radio comedy series The Navy Lark.
