B'Elanna Torres est un personnage appartenant à l'univers de fiction de Star Trek, et plus particulièrement de la série Star Trek : Voyager, interprété par l'actrice Roxann Dawson.

Biographie

B'Elanna Torres est mi-Humaine, mi-Klingonne. Elle est chef mécanicien, chargée de la maintenance du vaisseau USS Voyager.

Elle est, à l'origine, un membre du groupe dissident, le Maquis où elle a développé une haine tenace des Cardassiens. Après avoir été transporté dans le Quadrant Delta, son vaisseau du Maquis est détruit et elle intègre, contrainte et forcée, l'équipage du vaisseau Voyager.

Durant le voyage, elle a une relation avec Tom Paris[1], le pilote du vaisseau, puis l'épouse et met au monde sa fille Miral (qui porte le nom de sa mère) le jour de leur retour dans le Quadrant Alpha.

Elle a un caractère emporté qui lui vaut occasionnellement quelques problèmes d'adaptation aux règles qui règnent sur Voyager. Son nouveau capitaine, Kathryn Janeway, et son ancien capitaine du Maquis, Chakotay l'aident à plusieurs reprises lorsqu'elle traverse des moments difficiles.

B'Elanna est foncièrement un personnage en lutte avec lui-même, du fait de son double héritage klingon et humain. Elle hait sa propre violence et admire le calme et le contrôle absolu du vulcain Tuvok.

B'Elanna Torres /bɪˈlɑːnə/ is a main character in Star Trek: Voyager played by Roxann Dawson. She is portrayed as a half-human half-Klingon born in 2346 on the Federation colony Kessik IV. She was admitted to Starfleet academy but dropped out before graduating. Torres joined the Maquis in 2370 and was serving on the Val Jean when taken to the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker alien using his station. After being used for medical experiments she was left in an Ocampa colony maintained by the same alien that had abducted the Val Jean. That ship was destroyed in a space battle at the Array and she and what remained of that crew joined the USS Voyager. On the ship she was given field commissioned rank of Lieutenant, junior grade and posted in engineering. In 2371, she was promoted to Chief Engineer. In 2377, she married Tom Paris and gave birth to their daughter Miral at the beginning of the next year, while Voyager was returning to the Alpha Quadrant.
