Guerre contre la Mafia
Ancien sergent-chef (Master sergeant)de l'armée américaine, il était tireur d'élite pendant le début de la Guerre du Viêt Nam où il avait été surnommé l'Exécuteur.
Son père a de grosses dettes auprès de la mafia. À la suite d'un enchaînement de circonstances, le père tue la mère et la sœur de Mack avant de se suicider. Le frère de Mack échappe à la mort. Cet acte met Mack Bolan dans une colère noire contre la Mafia ; il dévalise une armurerie, y dérobe une carabine Marlin 444 et commence une croisade vengeresse.
À chaque livre de la série, Mack Bolan massacre une bande de mafiosi. Son arme préférée, au début de ses aventures, est un Beretta Brigadier avec silencieux et un Automag 44, qui seront remplacés par un Beretta 93R équipé de munitions 9 mm Parabellum et d'un silencieux, mais il dispose d'une grande quantité d'armes de guerre (il est très souvent fait référence à ces armes dans les livres de la série policière).

Mack Bolan, alias The Executioner, is a fictional character who has been serialized in 631 novels with sales of more than 200 million books.[1] Created by Don Pendleton, Bolan made his first appearance on the printed page in War Against the Mafia (1969). Pendleton wrote 37 other novels featuring Bolan, often referred to as the "Mafia Wars". In 1980, Pendleton sold his rights to the character to Gold Eagle, which hired a number of ghostwriters to continue publishing Bolan monthly, to satisfy reader demand worldwide. Don Pendleton remained credited as the sole author and supervised these new adventures, which took the Bolan character all over the world fighting terrorism. This new series of books featured Bolan as a principled warrior fighting larger-than-life adversaries in the spirit of a tougher, American version of James Bond. The demand for the books continued, and Gold Eagle began releasing as many as 15 titles annually. In 2014, more than a dozen Mack Bolan novels were being published every year worldwide by Gold Eagle Books, a division of Harlequin Books.
