Storia

Ernesto P. Worrell fu creato da Carden & Cherry Advertising Agency e interpretato da Jim Varney, inizia a comparire in numerosi spot pubblicitari e in una serie televisiva Hey, Vern, It's Ernest! del 1988. Il primo lungometraggio Dr. Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam (inedito in Italia) del 1986. Il secondo è Ernesto guai in campeggio del 1987 incassa circa venticinque milioni di dollari.[1] L'ultima apparizione di questo personaggio è stato Ernest in the Army del 1998 e due anni dopo l'attore Jim Varney morì di cancro ai polmoni nel 10 febbraio 2000.

In Italia Ernesto P. Worrell, è conosciuto solo in quattro film: Ernesto guai in campeggio, Ernesto salva il Natale, Ernesto va in prigione e Ernesto e una spaventosa eredità mentre gli altri film sono tuttora inediti.

Ernest P. Worrell is a fictional character portrayed by American actor Jim Varney in a series of television commercials and later in a television series (Hey Vern, It's Ernest!) as well as a series of feature films. Ernest was created with Varney by the Nashville advertising agency Carden & Cherry and was used in various local television ad campaigns.[3] The only national products he promoted were The Coca-Cola Company's sodas,[4] Chex, and Taco John's.[5] The first Ernest commercial, filmed in 1980, advertised an appearance by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders at Beech Bend Park, an amusement park near Bowling Green, Kentucky. The format of the commercials seldom varied, most often scripted to be comedic and fast-paced.
