The film garnered four nominations at the 59th Golden Horse Awards, with Hong being the first Singaporean to be nominated for Best Leading Actress.[1][2] It premiered at the 2022 Busan International Film Festival on 7 October 2022 and opened in local cinemas on 27 October 2022.[3] The film was selected as the Singaporean entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards.[4]
A middle-aged widowed Singaporean woman named Auntie has spent the majority of her life providing for her family. As her adult son Sam becomes more independent, she is left to deal with a completely new identity outside of her roles as a daughter, wife, and mother.
A solo vacation to Korea turns into a wild adventure when she meets Jung Su, an elderly security officer, and Kwon-Woo, a teenage tour guide who can't seem to get his life together. The trio embark on an unexpected roller coaster ride where hearts flutter and unlikely bonds are formed.
The film is touted as the first official Singapore-Korean co-production and was mostly shot in Korea, with Hong spotted filming there in early 2022.[6][7]
