Creation Between Two Surfaces[1] (Persian: آفرینش بین دو سطح) is the second feature film by Iranian independent filmmaker Hossein Rajabian. It was written and directed by Rajabian using digital cinema technology, as was his first film "The Upside-down Triangle", but this one is in color. The film was produced after his probation in 2019, when he was in an artistic ban.[2][3][4] This film was banned by Iranian government and has not been screened anywhere.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]

Synopsis


The film is about a man who changes his life on the eve of going to a mental hospital. A man is set to inherit insanity and, like his father, end up in a mental hospital at the age of 40. Fear of such a dreadful fate ruins his life.[12][13]


Censorship


After his sentence for making "The Upside-down Triangle", Rabjabian did not requested a license from any government entity for making or distributing films.[7][8][2][14][15][16][17]


Release for protest


This film is in line with Iranian popular protests which culminated in November 2019, and was released on the internet for free in February 2020 by Rajabian as a show against censorship and in sympathy with the protesting people.[5][12][14][11]
