Garam Masala is a 1972 Hindi-language comedy film, produced by C. Mohan under the Balaji Kala Mandir banner and directed by Aspi Irani. It stars Aruna Irani and Mehmood in lead roles, while Ashok Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra and Hema Malini have given special appearances. The music of the film was composed by R. D. Burman.

Plot


The film begins in a kingdom whose King goes missing. Exploiting it, the chief commander Captain Kishore Chandra comports as a tyrant. Once, he visits a gypsy hamlet and tries to molest a beauty when she commits suicide. Hence, her younger sister Jugnu / Garam Masala flares up with vengeance and approaches a gallant Ustaad Robert Taylor for learning warrior skills. Besides, Captain instructs the royal mentor Hercules to develop Prince Suraj Kumar into a scaredy-cat. But allegiant Hercules trains the prince as a true warrior. Years roll by, and Suraj & Jugnu turn valorous. Here, Hercules cautions the prince to act as tomfool until the King’s whereabouts are known. On his way back, Jugnu cleverly diverts the prince to seek justice. However, spotting his antics she declares him inept and gets away. After reaching the fort, Suraj teases the treacherous with his naughtiness. In tandem, Jugnu determines to fight herself against Captain and in the veil and confronts his vandalism. Then, the furious Captain plans various plots to seize her but every time Suraj shields her too in a veil when they fall in love. At last, they acquit the King and cease Captain. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with Suraj quitting his kingdom and accompanying Jugnu in a tribal Caravan led by Jeetu.
