Himmat Aur Mehanat (transl.Courage and Effort) is a 1987 Indian Hindi-language drama film, produced by B. S. Shaad under the BRAR Productions banner and directed by K. Bapaiah. It stars Jeetendra, Sridevi in the pivotal roles and music composed by Bappi Lahiri. The film is a remake of the Telugu film Pachani Samsaram (1970).

Plot


Seth Madanlal a millionaire is surrounded by many relatives to usurp his wealth. Once, he is resuscitated by a nurse Jyothi when she wins his credence. Hence, he welcomes her into his family for being an orphan and accords the household authority. Vijay Kumar son of Madanlal, back from abroad loves and marries Jyothi. Soon the couple is blessed with a baby boy. Here, a rift arises in the form of Raja a person enhanced by Jyothi previously. Raja becomes a frequenter of their house as he loves Vijay’s cousin Sona. Exploiting it, Madanlal’s virago sly sister accredits illicit relations to Raja & Jyothi. Once, Madanlal witnesses two shadows embrace and misinterpret Jyothi for Sona. So, he too upholds, guilt’s her when self-esteemed Jyothi quits along with the child and compressed Sona mutes. By the time, she is pregnant when Madhav the allegiant of Madanlal, shelters her in their village where she gives birth to another boy.

Jyothi is subjected to ignominies by Trilok Chand baneful brother of Madanlal and his son Mahesh. However, morale Jyothi grasps the nettle and rears the children. Grief-stricken Vijay becomes a drunkard when he spots his college mate Sharda as a club dancer owing to the victimization of society. Vijay feels relief in her acquaintance and often spends it in her house. After a few years, Jyothi sends the children to their father when Madanlal denies the younger one as he is not legitimate. In that chaos, children are misplaced and unknowingly reach Sharda’s residence. Knowing it, Jyothi reproofs on Madanlal when Sona affirms the actuality which makes Madanlal & Vijay rue. Meanwhile, Trilok Chand & Mahesh kidnap the boys by stabbing Sharda and extorting Vijay. At last, Vijay ceases them and everyone pleads pardon from Jyothi. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note.
