The film was released on 24 October 2006 (Pakistan), Eid al-Fitr.[1] This is a big-budget film (by local standards at least) shot in locations in both Dubai and Pakistan. It was a hit, but flopped in Lahore. The film was hyped enough by local media due to its budget.
With Tarap, Sangeeta seemed determined not to repeat past mistakes. "It is a family-oriented film with a strong social message. If it fails, I will be forced to reconsider making Punjabi action movies once again," she said.
The music is composed by Wajid Ali Nashad and the film song lyrics were by Ahmad Anees.
