Trama
A quasi quarant'anni, lo spiantato suitcase pimp (nell'industria del sesso, un uomo che si mantiene attraverso relazioni sentimentali e professionali con delle pornoattrici) Mikey lascia Los Angeles per fare ritorno nella natale Texas City, dove nessuno, a partire dalla suocera e dalla sua ex moglie da cui si stabilisce, sembra molto felice della sua presenza. Le cose paiono migliorare, ma Mikey conosce Strawberry, una cassiera diciassettenne che sogna di andarsene dalla provincia, e ricade nelle sue vecchie abitudini da adescatore.
Produzione
Baker ha girato in segreto il film in Texas nell'autunno 2020 col direttore della fotografia Drew Daniels in pellicola 16 millimetri.[1][2]
Promozione
La prima immagine promozionale del film è stata diffusa il 24 giugno 2021.[3]
Distribuzione
Nel febbraio del 2021, A24 ha acquisito i diritti di distribuzione statunitensi del film.[4] È stato presentato in anteprima il 14 luglio 2021 in concorso alla 74ª edizione del Festival di Cannes.[5] Sarà distribuito nelle sale cinematografiche statunitensi a partire dal 3 dicembre 2021.[6]
In Italia è stato presentato in anteprima il 22 ottobre 2021 alla 16ª edizione della Festa del Cinema di Roma.[7]
