Ivan Yagan (30 September 1934 – 24 March 2022) was a Russian writer.[1]

Biography


Yagan was born in Baydakovka, Tavrichesky District.[1] He had written poems as a teenager,[2] before then serving in the Russian Navy.[3] After being discharged, he moved to Omsk where he functioned as a literature worker.[3] Yagan also was an editor of numerous newspapers factory and also a literature consultant for the Omsk Writers' Organization.[3] He attended Ural State University, where he later graduated in 1955.[1] Yagan became a member of the Union of Soviet Writers in 1956.[3] He served as an executive secretary for the Union of Writers of Russia from 1974 to 2008,[1] after being bid in working.[2][3]

Yagan wrote a book titled, "The Many Faces and Original (Notes on the Literature of the Trans-Urals)", which was published in Kurgan in 2007.[3] He was honored with jubilee medals, such as the Jubilee Medal "50 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945",[3] Jubilee Medal "60 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945", Jubilee Medal "65 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945", Jubilee Medal "70 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945", Jubilee Medal "75 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945" and Jubilee Medal "In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin". Yagan was also honored with other kinds of medals, such as, Honored Cultural Worker of the RSFSR,[2][3] Order "For Merit to the Fatherland",[3] Medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945"[3] and the Honorary Citizen of Kurgan Oblast, which he was honored with in 2011.[4] He motivated other writers with his writing work.[1]

Yagan died in March 2022, at the age of 87.[1]

Член Союза писателей СССР (с 1966 года). Секретарь Правления Союза писателей России с 2010 года. Ответственный секретарь Курганской областной писательской организации (с 1974 по 1998 и с 2002 по 2008). Почётный гражданин Кургана (2011). Заслуженный работник культуры РСФСР (1984).
