Jill Talbot (born 1970) is an American essayist and writer of nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. Talbot is the author of Loaded: Women and Addiction (Seal Press, 2001),[1] and The Way We Weren't (Soft Skull Press, 2015),[2] co-editor of The Art of Friction: Where (Non)fictions Come Together (University of Texas Press, 2008),[3] and the editor of Metawritings: Toward a Theory of Nonfiction (University of Iowa Press, 2012).[4]

Life and work


Jill Talbot was born in Dallas, Texas in 1970. She earned her PhD in Contemporary American Literature and Film at Texas Tech University. She went on to earn her second Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has served as a writer-in-residence and English professor at Columbia College Chicago, and an English faculty member at St. Lawrence University, Oklahoma State University, Southern Utah University, and New Mexico Highlands University.[5][6][7] Talbot's work has appeared in journals such as Brevity, DIAGRAM, Ecotone, The Paris Review Daily, The Pinch, The Rumpus, and Under the Sun. She has a daughter named Indie (born 2002) and currently resides in Texas, working as an Associate Professor of Creative Nonfiction at University of North Texas.
