Lorenzo Barotti (20 December 1724-1801) was an Italian Jesuit priest, historian, and poet.

He was born in Ferrara, but studied under the Jesuits in Vicenza, Padua, and Venice, and joined the order, though the suppression of the order in 1773 left him bereft of an ecclesiastical appointment. Early in his career he taught rhetoric at Bologna, affiliated with the church of Santa Lucia. He published a biography of illustrious writers from Ferrara, a work begun by his father, published in 1777.[1] He wrote a history of bishops and archbishops of Ferrara (1787). He was also known for his poetry.[2]
