Panayiotis Jerasimof Vatikiotis (5 February 1928 – 15 December 1997)[citation needed] was a Greek-American political scientist and historian of the Middle East. He was Professor of Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.[1]

Vatikiotis was born in Jerusalem, the son of Paraskevi and Jerasimos Vatikiotis, and grew up in Haifa.[2] He was educated at Greek and English private schools in Mandatory Palestine, before studying at the American University in Cairo and Johns Hopkins University.[3] In the 1960s he moved to London University where he helped get Middle Eastern Studies established.[2]
A festschrift was published in his honour in 1993.[4]
