Trevor Bentham (born 11 October 1943) is an English former stage manager and screenwriter. He is a screenwriter of works including A Month by the Lake (filmed in 1995)[1] and The Clandestine Marriage (in 1998).[2]

For 22 years, he was the partner of the English actor Sir Nigel Hawthorne.[3] They met in 1968 when Bentham was stage-managing the Royal Court Theatre.[4] From 1979 until Hawthorne's death in 2001, they lived together in Radwell near Baldock and latterly at Thundridge, both in Hertfordshire, England.[5] The two of them became fund raisers for Garden House Hospice in Letchworth, Herts hospice and other local charities.[6]
Bentham was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy in 1997.[5]
