The Marvel Super Heroes è la prima serie televisiva d'animazione tratta dai fumetti della Marvel Comics. La serie, trasmessa per la prima volta in syndication negli Stati Uniti nel 1966,[1] è incentrata sui supereroi Capitan America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor e Namor; ognuno di essi è protagonista di 13 episodi (ciascuno dei quali diviso in tre segmenti), per un totale di 65 episodi. I segmenti della serie sono stati trasmessi anche mescolando i protagonisti in fasce orarie di mezz'ora o individualmente come riempitivi o in programmi per bambini. La serie fu prodotta dalla Grantray-Lawrence Animation in un'animazione estremamente limitata, ottenuta tramite xerografia fotocopiando vignette prese direttamente dai fumetti e manipolate per ridurre al minimo la necessità di animazioni. La serie usò le storie originali in gran parte nella loro interezza.

Edizione italiana

La trasmissione della versione italiana iniziò il 22 giugno 1978 su Rai 2 nel programma SuperGulp!, nel quale furono trasmessi tre segmenti di Thor: "L'incantatrice e il boia", "Alla mercè di Loki" e "Chained Evil". Un quarto segmento, "L'uomo del futuro", fu invece inserito nel film di montaggio I supereroi di SuperGulp (1979). Il resto della serie fu trasmesso tra gli anni ottanta e novanta in varie modalità e su molteplici reti televisive, tra cui Canale 5, Odeon TV e soprattutto diverse televisioni locali.
