Nell'universo fantascientifico di Star Trek, B'Elanna Torres è una donna di discendenza umana da parte di padre e Klingon da parte di madre che svolge la mansione di Ingegnere Capo a bordo dell'astronave USS Voyager.

B'Elanna ha un forte temperamento e un carattere a volte molto spigoloso, considerati generalmente un retaggio della specie klingon. Questo le ha procurato delle difficoltà iniziali nell'inserimento con il nuovo equipaggio. Il suo nuovo capitano Kathryn Janeway e il suo vecchio capitano maquis Chakotay l'hanno tuttavia aiutata ad affrontare queste difficoltà.

Storia

Dopo che B'Elanna fu espulsa dall'Accademia della flotta stellare decise di unirsi al gruppo dei Maquis, un movimento clandestino di coloni che combatte contro gli occupanti Cardassiani. Dopo il trasporto a opera del Custode nel quadrante Delta, l'astronave dei Maquis venne pesantemente danneggiata e l'equipaggio si trovò costretto a unirsi all'equipaggio della Voyager, anch'esso decimato. Durante la serie, B'Elanna inizia una relazione sentimentale con Tom Paris, il pilota della Voyager, che successivamente sposerà e dal quale avrà una figlia, Miral Paris.

B'Elanna Torres /bɪˈlɑːnə/ is a main character in Star Trek: Voyager played by Roxann Dawson. She is portrayed as a half-human half-Klingon born in 2346 on the Federation colony Kessik IV. She was admitted to Starfleet academy but dropped out before graduating. Torres joined the Maquis in 2370 and was serving on the Val Jean when taken to the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker alien using his station. After being used for medical experiments she was left in an Ocampa colony maintained by the same alien that had abducted the Val Jean. That ship was destroyed in a space battle at the Array and she and what remained of that crew joined the USS Voyager. On the ship she was given field commissioned rank of Lieutenant, junior grade and posted in engineering. In 2371, she was promoted to Chief Engineer. In 2377, she married Tom Paris and gave birth to their daughter Miral at the beginning of the next year, while Voyager was returning to the Alpha Quadrant.
