The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a media franchise and shared fictional universe that is the setting of superhero television series based on characters that appear in Marvel Comics publications. The MCU first expanded to television with series from Marvel Television that released from 2013 until 2020 on ABC, Netflix, Hulu, and Freeform. Marvel Studios—the production studio behind the films—began releasing series on Disney+ as part of Phase Four. WandaVision began streaming in 2021, and was followed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the first season of Loki, the first season of the animated What If...?, and Hawkeye, while Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law were released in 2022; the phase also includes two Marvel Studios Special Presentations. Phase Five series planned for 2023 include the second season of What If...?, Secret Invasion, Echo, the second season of Loki, Ironheart, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos, with Daredevil: Born Again and the animated Spider-Man: Freshman Year and Marvel Zombies being planned for 2024. An untitled drama series set in Wakanda, Wonder Man, and Vision Quest are also in development. These series feature greater interconnectivity with the feature films than those from Marvel Television, with many actors reprising their roles from the MCU films and the Marvel Television series.

Olsen, Bettany, Mackie, Stan, Hiddleston, Renner, Steinfeld, Isaac, and Maslany headline series in Phase Four. Jackson, Mendelsohn, Hahn, and Cox headline series in Phase Five, with Gurira, Abdul-Mateen, and Bettany headlining future series. Wright narrates the animated series What If...?.

For Phase Four, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their respective roles as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision in WandaVision; Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan star in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier returning as Sam Wilson / Falcon and Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier, respectively; Tom Hiddleston headlines the first season of Loki reprising his role as the titular character; Jeffrey Wright narrates What If...? as The Watcher; Jeremy Renner reprises his role as Clint Barton / Hawkeye in Hawkeye, where he is joined by Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop / Hawkeye; Oscar Isaac headlines Moon Knight as Marc Spector / Moon Knight and Steven Grant / Mr. Knight; Iman Vellani headlines Ms. Marvel as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel; and Tatiana Maslany stars as Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

For Phase Five, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn will reprise their roles as Nick Fury and Talos in Secret Invasion; Alaqua Cox will reprise her Hawkeye role as Maya Lopez / Echo in Echo; Hiddleston will return for Loki season 2; Dominique Thorne will star in Ironheart reprising her role as Riri Williams / Ironheart; Kathryn Hahn will reprise her WandaVision role as Agatha Harkness in Agatha: Coven of Chaos; and Charlie Cox will return as Matt Murdock / Daredevil from Marvel Television's Netflix series and the films in Daredevil: Born Again after joining Maslany in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Additionally, Danai Gurira will reprise her role as Okoye in the Wakanda series, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star as Simon Williams / Wonder Man, and Bettany will return to headline Vision Quest.
