Raju Gari Gadhi 2 (transl. Respected king's room 2) is a 2017 Indian Telugu-language comedy horror film, produced by Prasad V. Potluri under PVP Cinema, Matinee Entertainment, OAK Entertainments banner, and directed by Ohmkar. It stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Seerat Kapoor, with music composed by S. Thaman.[3] The film is a sequel to Raju Gari Gadhi (2015) and second installment in Raju Gari Gadhi franchise. It is a remake of the Malayalam film Pretham (2016).[4]

Plot

The film begins with 3 besties Ashwin, Kishore, and Praveen, investing their entire wealth in the resort. Initially, it moves smoothly until they witness paranormal activities, making their lives tougher. Immediately they contact a church Father who fails and their fear of that ghost peaks. Then, the father suggests approaching a world-renowned mentalist, Rudra. He obtains parlor tricks, mental tenacity to make clever guesses, special powers of contact with the spirits, and cold reading techniques. Now, Rudra decides to solve the mystery. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, he finds out it is a soul of a girl Amurtha who is seeking answers for her death. Rudra ensures Amurtha aids her and she spins back. Amurtha is a meteoritic law student who has grown up with morals given by her father Parandhamaiah. Once, on her college excursion, an anonymous secretly films her nude scenes while bathing in the same resort and uploaded them on the internet which leads to her father’s death. After a while, Amurtha also committed suicide due to the pain given by society. Presently, Rudra starts his investigation and cracks the mystery by revealing the culprit as Kiran the daughter of Chandra Shekar Vice Chancellor. Due to the jealousy of Amurtha's popularity and prioritization of her beloved Nandu towards her. Being cognizant of it, Amurtha’s soul onslaughts for vengeance when Rudra obstructs and requests to honor the ethics of her father when her soul happily mingles in the universe. Finally, the movie ends with 3 youngsters successfully running their resort by banning cell phones therein, and Rudra proceeds to the new mission.

Production

Raju Gari Gadhi 2, a new project with Nagarjuna Akkineni in the lead was launched on 27 November 2016 at Annapurna Studios, K. Raghavendra Rao gave the clap for the first scene, producer Prasad V Potluri switched on the camera while Omkar directed the first shot. The principal photography commenced in February 2017 in Hyderabad.[5] The first look of the film was launched on 29 August 2017 on Nagarjuna's birthday and the trailer has launched on 20 September 2017, on eve of ANR's birthday.[6] The resort shown in the film is Le Pondy at Pondicherry.

Reception

Critical reception

Times of India gave 3 out of 5 stars stating "The linear narrative and lack of spooks in what’s touted to be horror-comdey [sic] not withstanding, Raju Gari Gadhi 2 makes for a passable weekend watch".[7]

Sequels

It is sequel to Raju Gari Gadhi which was released in 2015. Eventually the third installment Raju Gari Gadhi 3 was released on 18 October 2019.
