George Hirthler is an American writer.[1] He is known for his research of the Olympic Games.[2] He is also known for his work on the novel The Idealist which earned him the Pierre de Coubertin medal by the International Olympic Committee.[2][3]

Hirthler got into the Olympic Games in 1989, where he began to research and also placed an offer in 1990 for the 1996 Summer Olympics which was hosted in Atlanta.[2] He was the partner of Brad Copeland, in which they've both had worked for the Olympic Games.[2] In the 2010s, Hirthler began to write on the novel The Idealist for which he got it published by the Ringworks Press in 2016.[2][4] On June 23, 2022, he was honored the Pierre de Coubertin medal along with Rolf Lukaschewski.[3]
